HAPPY TRAILS, PAL

He wouldn't be pleased to know that I'm writing this, which is why I filed it after he left for the weekend. He couldn't stop what he didn't know about; he couldn't give it one of his, "No one cares" or "Boring" feedbacks.

"No one cares" and "Boring" are two of the say-no-more responses Klayman would offer - but only if you asked - after he read what you wrote for the next day's paper. And I often asked because he always answered quickly, gently and honestly, ingredients tough to blend.

And on those days Klayman said your piece did nothing for him, you had two choices. You could pull it back and try to make it better, or you could tell yourself that this time Klayman doesn't know good from bad, then let it go - and then feel as if you'd ignored him or, much worse, let him down.

Pat's Beside the Point

Only three pictures hang in the office of Cavaliers coach Mike Brown at Quicken Loans Arena. Two are of his family. The other is of his players joining hands high in the air, an action and a picture that he says represents ''team.''

Brown starts an All-Star Game assessment of his team by talking about the ways he can improve as a coach. He continues by praising his players for winning despite more injuries than they would like to count.

This is the same coach who works the sideline markers at his son's grade-school football games and who greets everyone by first name.

This coach preaches defense, but spent part of the offseason in Europe studying ways to improve the offense.

He's not afraid to let players suggest plays in key moments or to let them call a play that will take precedence over his during a game.

Doctor accused of hastening death for patient's organs

The sensationalism of this case in the media will unfortunately result in a decrease in organ donation. This, in turn, will deprive patients waiting for life-saving organ transplantation their opportunity for life," said Goran Klintmalm, the president of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.

"If Dr. Roozrokh is guilty, it would represent a gross aberration in the organ donation process, not the gift of life we are all trying to provide."

At least one former patient has spoken out in support of Roozrokh.

"He performed surgery on me and literally saved my life," Joe Quiroz told CNN-affiliate KCOY in an August interview. "I have known Dr. Roozrokh to be a man of great, great compassion."

The preliminary hearing continues this week.

The PM-elect has an extensive list of reforms for his first 100 days ...

CLAIMING victory on Saturday night, Prime Minister-elect Kevin Rudd gave his fledgling government time for a strong cup of tea — and maybe an iced Vo Vo — but said after that it would be down to business.

At his first press conference after the victory speech, there was little time for reflection on the stunning win of the previous night. Instead, Mr Rudd spelt out his extensive to-do list.

He had already outlined a series of things he wanted to get done within 100 days of Labor forming government.

It is not clear whether Mr Rudd will take the 100 days from now or from the time the Governor-General gives him the commission, but given his frantic activity already, it is likely that he started counting down the 100 days as soon as John Howard conceded defeat.

Ex-wrestler Lesnar finds his calling in MMA

The grueling preparation for Lesnar's Ultimate Fighting Championship debut has been under way since he signed with the fast-growing mixed martial arts organization in October.

Really, though, his training program began shortly after birth, in a small South Dakota farming town.

"I started fighting when I was real young. I couldn't go anywhere without getting into a scrap," said Lesnar, who will take on fellow heavyweight Frank Mir in the UFC's featured event Saturday in Las Vegas.

"If you ask anybody I ever grew up with, I could never go out and have a good time," Lesnar said, laughing: "It was always go out and see who we could bruise our knuckles on."

Though Lesnar is new to the techniques of jiujitsu, karate, kickboxing and other disciplines in the ultimate fighter's repertoire, the 30-year-old former NCAA wrestling champion sure looks and sounds cut out for this increasingly popular, violent combat sport.

Welcome to Adlon Hotel in Stockholm

Can anybody tell me what is expected from my c.v and covering letter in Sweden. I am soon hoping to apply for my first job in Sweden and really don't want to mess it up! I was planning to get help writing my covering letter in Swedish, but even these letters seem quite different form any covering letter I have written in England. I was told recently that it should be a general introduction letter about myself, perhaps even with a photo, not just work related, mentioning my age my partner my interests etc....is this correct? As for the c.v should I translate it into Swedish? What order should things be in...my english c.v starts with contact info, then education, then previous employment, then additional skills/experience and finally referees....does this order stay the same? As you can see...I am not sure .

After 3 wins, Obama wins Maine, too

When politicians pit one group against another, the only winners are those who believe that more power should be concentrated in the federal government. The economic evidence clearly demonstrates that the U.S. economy will produce significant income gains for all Americans as long as appropriate policies are followed.

Marginal tax rate reductions and death tax repeal are examples of those policies. Yes, taxpayers will benefit, including some upper-income taxpayers, but the real winners will be Americans on the lower rungs of the economic ladder.
